Chip Design Firm Luxic Secures Hundreds of Millions of Yuan in Financing
Luxic, a chip design company that focuses on the optical communications field, announced on September 28 that it has completed two rounds financing worth over 100 million yuan ($13.8 million).
Among them, the pre-A round was led by Source Code Capital and followed by Xinyang Venture Capital, Delian Capital and Legend Star, its existing shareholder. Round-A financing was led by China Fortune-Tech Capital, followed by Source Code Capital and SMIC. The funds raised this time will mainly be used for the company’s technology R&D, product development, mass production and product delivery, as well as for promoting the market promotion of high-speed optical communication products.
Luxic was established in September 2020. The company’s founders come mostly from internationally renowned manufacturers and have many years of experience in R&D of optoelectronic chips. It currently has more than 30 employees, with research personnel accounting for more than 70%. In terms of market expansion, it has entered into the supply chain of major international factories with various products.
In the field of optical communications, it has introduced several common electrical chips such as TIAs (transimpedance amplifiers), CDRs (clock and data recovery circuits) and drivers. For the consumer sector, it has launched HDMI (high-definition multimedia interface) chips.

Luxic’s chip solutions can cover full-range (SR-ZR+) application scenarios with transmission rates ranging from 25G to 800G. Core mass production products such as single wave 100G chips have been introduced into major module factories.
The company is developing a digital single wave 200G chip, which can be used on digital 800G and 1.6T optical modules. The corresponding products are expected to be available by the end of the year. In addition, the company has begun to explore relevant technologies for lidar, focusing on the solutions market of conversion chips for vehicle-mounted applications.
With the development of 5G, AIoT, cloud computing and other applications, data transmission is moving towards higher speeds. With the construction of many high-speed data centers, the field of optical modules required for data center photoelectric conversion is growing rapidly.
