BYD Surpasses CATL in Loading Capacity of Lithium Iron Phosphate Batteries
The China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance released power battery data for July on August 11. During the month, China produced a total of 47.2 GWh of power batteries, up 172.2% year-on-year and 14.4% quarter-on-quarter.
The loading capacity of power batteries in China in July was 24.2 GWh, up 114.2% year-on-year. Among them, the loading capacity of ternary batteries was 9.8 GWh, accounting for 40.7% of the total loading capacity. The loading capacity of lithium iron phosphate battery is 14.3 GWh, accounting for 59.3% of the total loading capacity.
China’s power battery export volume totaled 2.0 GWh in July. Among them, the export volume of ternary batteries was 0.5 GWh, accounting for 25.6% of the total export volume. Additionally, the export volume of lithium iron phosphate batteries was 1.5 GWh, accounting for 73.6% of the total export volume.
In July, a total of 37 power battery enterprises in China’s new energy vehicle market realized loading matching, a decrease of eight compared with last year. The installed capacity of the top three, five, and 10 power battery enterprises is 19.0 GWh, 20.9 GWh and 23.2 GWh respectively, and their market share is 78.5%, 86.3% and 95.9% respectively. The market is becoming further concentrated.
In the ranking of specific enterprises, CATL continued to lead with 47.19% in July this year, while FinDreams Battery owned by BYD, CALB, Gotion Hi-Tech and Sunwoda ranked two to five, with 25.23%, 6.07%, 4.70% and 3.11% respectively. SVOLT, EVE Energy Co., Ltd., Rept Battero Energy Co., Ltd. and Farasis Energy ranked six to nine respectively.
At the same time, CATL’s loading capacity in the field of ternary lithium batteries also far exceeds that of other manufacturers. In July this year, the company achieved a total installed capacity of 6.06 GWh in China’s power battery market, accounting for 61.56%, exceeding the sum of the market share of two to 10-ranked enterprises.
