Tesla Establishes over 1,200 Supercharger Stations on Chinese Mainland
Tesla China said on July 3 that it has to date opened more than 1,200 supercharger stations and over 8,700 super charging piles on the Chinese mainland, covering more than 370 cities and regions.
In January 2022, Tesla also announced the numbers for its super charging piles. At that time, the company said, “Up to now, Tesla has opened more than 1,000 supercharger stations and over 8,000 super charging piles on the Chinese mainland.” This means that in the first half of this year, Tesla’s super charging piles on mainland increased by over 700.
Tesla’s V3 super charging piles are able to reach a maximum charging power of 250kW, which is one of the highest in the market. Under the ideal state of battery preheating, a Tesla vehicle can be fully charged in only 15 minutes by using an ordinary V3 charging pile. Tesla is also updating its V3 network, and the maximum output power is expected to increase to 300kW.
The company also released the production and delivery data for the second quarter of 2022 on July 3. Due to interruptions in the supply chain, Tesla produced about 258,600 vehicles and delivered about 254,600 vehicles worldwide in the second quarter, which was about 18% lower than the delivery of 310,000 vehicles in the first quarter. It was the first quarterly decline in Tesla’s deliveries since the second quarter of 2020.

The Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory plays an important role in the company’s global production and delivery numbers. From January to May, Tesla delivered a total of 215,900 vehicles in China, up more than 50% year-on-year. According to the company, the Shanghai Gigafactory resumed work in April, and by early June this year, its capacity utilization rate had recovered to 100%. This also boosted the recovery of the new energy vehicle industry chain in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai provinces.
