Olympic Champion Skier Eileen Gu Breaks New World Record

Eileen Gu, an Olympic champion in freestyle skiing, posted a training video to social media on December 21. In the video, the US-born Chinese athlete can be seen completing a switch 1260 tail grab, becoming the first female skier to successfully pull off this challenging stunt.

As shown in the video, Gu is in excellent condition. After starting from the platform, she accelerates with all her strength, completes the 1260-degree turn against her feet in the air, and grasps the tail of her ski. The whole trick is completed in one go and she lands smoothly.

Beginning in January, freestyle skiing competitions such as the FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup and X Games will commence. Eileen Gu has recently returned to the training ground to prepare for the new season.

Eileen Gu participated in this year’s Beijing Winter Olympics. She won two golds and one silver in three events – halfpipe, slopestyle, and big air – and became the first athlete in history to win three medals in freestyle skiing in a single Winter Olympics.

Gu has been very busy since winning the Winter Olympics for the Chinese team, frequently participating in various activities and award ceremonies. In the second half of this year, she returned to Stanford University to pursue her studies. As a freshman, she just finished her final exam at Stanford this month and shared a short essay online.

At the same time, Gu’s personal life and training have not lagged behind. Some time ago, a video of her kissing a man on an ice rink was exposed, attracting considerable attention. She also posted videos and photos of her training in New Zealand and Austria in October and November respectively, and went to Europe to participate in a high-end brand fashion show.
