Cainiao Donates Exercise Books Made from Recycled Shipping Boxes to Rural Students
Cainiao Network, Alibaba Group’s logistics arm, distributed 50,000 exercise books made from recycled shipping boxes to nearly 10,000 students in 29 rural primary schools located in rural areas of southwestern China in April. The move aims to promote an eco-friendly mindset among students on the occasion of Earth Day’s 54th anniversary.
These shipping boxes were collected through Cainiao Network’s box recycling program, under which consumers can leave them at delivery points for reuse or recycling by Cainiao. The program was launched in 2016 and has covered nearly 100,000 Cainiao delivery points in 315 cities in 31 provincial administrative regions.
Cainiao took its environmental commitment further in March 2022 by introducing China’s first virtual eco-friendly interactive community “Green Home”, where consumers can experience green express consumption in this community, accumulate their own personal carbon bills, and obtain various rights and interests.

Up to now, by accumulating and redeeming their “green energy” points at “Green Home” community, over 1.7 million individuals have participated in donating more than 250,000 exercise books, including the recent 50,000 exercise books, which were delivered to Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture.
A sixth-grade student expressed her excitement upon receiving the gift of exercise books, “these books reflect vivid environmental protection story, which was hard to see in person.”
