BYD Announces Major Investment Plans in Intelligent Vehicles
At the 2024 BYD Dream Day held on Tuesday, Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of BYD, delivered a speech, stating that BYD aims to invest over 100 billion yuan to pioneer the development of new energy vehicles using advanced whole vehicle intelligence technology.
At the event, BYD unveiled the industry’s first intelligent architecture integrating electricity and intelligence – “Xuanji”. As understood, the Xuanji architecture incorporates BYD’s current technologies in electrification and intelligence, including Easy Quadrant, DMO, e-platform, Cloud Chariot, three-electric system, chassis system, car body system, intelligent cockpit, and intelligent driving technologies.
Wang Chuanfu also announced that BYD would invest 5 billion yuan to build the world’s first all-terrain professional racing track. It will serve as a “testing ground” for automotive technology and a “birthplace” for automotive culture, allowing the culture of new energy vehicles to take root in China.
Wang also disclosed the imminent launch of the Yangwang U9 supercar, a symbol of BYD’s automotive manufacturing prowess.
In 2023, BYD’s global sales of new energy vehicles broke through 3 million units, a year-on-year increase of 60%. Up to now, the cumulative sales of BYD’s new energy vehicles have reached 6.5 million units.
