OnePlus 11 to Adopt Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Ray Tracing Solution
After Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform was unveiled, Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus announced on November 16 that its OnePlus 11 model will be equipped with this new platform, as well as with a real-time hardware-accelerated ray tracing solution developed by OPPO and Qualcomm.
Louis Li, President of OnePlus China, shared the ray tracing technology after the official announcement. Put simply, ray tracing technology is about simulating propagation, reflection, refraction, and other optical effects to recreate light and shadow effects that adhere to the laws of physics. This requires a lot of computing power from high-end hardware.
“Previously, 3A-level games used ray tracing technology. It could not be applied to phones due to limited space. This time, OPPO worked with Qualcomm on real time hardware-accelerated ray tracing, which enabled OnePlus 11 users to experience the breakthrough,” said Li.
OPPO has been cooperating with Qualcomm to develop real-time optical tracking based on hardware acceleration. At this year’s Snapdragon Summit, the newly released Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 supports mobile light chasing in terms of hardware, bringing about more realistic game graphics.
To simulate a real 3A mobile game, OPPO developed a first-person shooter game scenario called “Camp Guard,” with over 2,000 physical models. Camp Guard runs smoothly at 720p 60fps for half an hour on a room temperature device powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
The lights and shades of the characters and objects in the game react realistically according to the model’s movement and the player’s camera angle. Mobile ray tracing has advanced from software simulation and prerecorded cutscenes to interactive graphics.
Previously, media outlets have exposed pictures of the OnePlus 11 Pro, showing “Hasselblad” on the lens, which seemed to imply that OnePlus will continue to cooperate with Hasselblad. In addition, the lens shape of OnePlus 11 Pro is very unique, adopting a semicircular design.
According to configurations exposed by digital industry bloggers, the OnePlus 11 will adopt a 6.7-inch 2K resolution curved screen, support LTPO adaptive refresh rate, 50MP main camera, 48MP ultra-wide lens, and 32MP telephoto. Its 5000mAh battery supports 100W wired flash charging.

In addition, in response to web user questions about whether OnePlus will research gaming phones, Li said no, adding that games are the embodiment of performance, requiring the cooperation of software and hardware. Performance is the foundation of a mobile phone, as it can support an overall smooth experience.
